Knowledge Representation and Reasoning

چکیده
IEEE INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS Except perhaps for the AI naysayers, AI practitioners are creators—of software artifacts, their underlying algorithms, and their underlying theories. We begin our feature with Herbert Simon, one of our three contributors (together with John McCarthy and Oliver Selfridge) who are our links to the landmark Dartmouth conference in 1956, where modern AI is often said to have begun. Simon paints a broad picture of AI as a discipline constantly pursuing computational creations that challenge the uniqueness of biologically grounded intelligence.

متن کاملDevelopment of an Intelligent Cavity Layout Design System for Injection Molding Dies (RESEARCH NOTE)
This paper presents the development of an Intelligent Cavity Layout Design System (ICLDS) for multiple cavity injection moulds. The system is intended to assist mould designers in cavity layout design at concept design stage. The complexities and principles of cavity layout design as well as various dependencies in injection mould design are introduced. The knowledge in cavity layout design is ...
متن کاملDEXSY2 A Dental Expert System for Diagnosis and Treatment
DEXSY2 is a dental expert system, which diagnoses oral diseases and offers a treatment course. The system which is designed and implemented from scratch is capable of diagnosing among thirty five oral diseases and offering a course of treatment for each. It uses a decision tree for its representation of knowledge, and each of its nodes contains a frame. The knowledge base of the system contains...

متن کاملL2 Teachers’ Representations of Classroom Management Events: Variations across Experience Levels
Knowledge representation, defined as the way individuals structure their knowledge and cognitive processing of events and the associated sense-making processes, is believed to influence teachers’ reasoning/thinking skills. While extensively researched in mainstream teacher education, this line of inquiry is essentially lacking in the L2 teacher education literature. To fill some of the void, th...
متن کاملConstructing a Legal Knowledge-base with Partial Information
In legal reasoning systems, a typical application of normative reasoning, partial information plays an important role in the representation and reasoning of legal knowledge. To construct a legal knowledge-base with partial information, many features are required of knowledge representation languages. In this paper, we discuss the representation of knowledge-bases and their re nement through our...
